Teaching a new dog old tricks

January 16, 2008

As I waited outside my classroom today, I saw several of the students from my summer class. They are still walking lockstep together through their program – sharing the same classes, same experiences, same challenges, same successes, same, same, same.  Just as I have grown immensely over the last six months, so have they. Looking into their eyes, feeling their embraces, I felt our growth and confidence mirrored back to ourselves.

I am now the new dog learning old tricks and they are now the old dogs learning new tricks. Each of us has been shifted by our experiences in the encounter. There is a symmetry to this that delights me!
