Life, Death, Life

April 18, 2007

Amid the sadness of death and trauma, there is life. Today I have the honor and privilege of acting as a support person for a wonderful friend. She and her husband are already parents to two beautiful, angelic (mostly :) children and this new baby is wanted and we welcome him or her.

Today I will sit in the tension of both/and. Both happy and sad. Both celebrating this birth and mourning the deaths of the students and faculty at Virginia Tech.  Clarissa Pinkola Estes taught me the life, death, life cycle. I take that teaching into my heart today with gratitude.
