Wild Dreams

March 25, 2006

After the lovely dream where all my shadow selves sang me a beautiful song and showered me with love – I am having a series of nightmares. Many are about injured animals and no one cares about them except me – the I/ego/self – the dreamer.

My soul knows how to get my attention!

I cannot bear to think of anything happening to my girldog.

I wonder what parts of my instinctual self are not being attended to? I think these nightmares are coming because the vision of my whole life in the “big dream” is more wondrous than I could imagine.

Do I have the courage to live my larger story into the world?

  1. Hello! I know this is an old posting, but I am actually having dreams about a cougar, first caged, now feverish, belly-achy, and mistreated by its owners who took advantage of its feverish lack of energy to make money off of scaring kids with it. I find plenty about injured/injuring animals in dreams, but, as you stated, I seem to be the only person in my dream that truly sees/cares about this animal… Did you ever discover anything about your sick-animal dreams?
I love your taste in life, by the way. You are a woman after my own heart, from what little I have read. Thank you for sharing your self.

  2. Evaluna,

Thanks for visiting!Oh my goodness I have really been working my dreams recently – both current ones and old ones that I am revisiting to see if I can discern what was coming next.

I had so many injured animal dreams – and for me – it came down to being afraid to listen to the summons of the soul – when I listened and opened myself to the unknown, they slowly slipped away. I can’t remember the last time I had an injured animal dream.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes talks a lot about dreams. Have you listened to either of her dream CDs?

  3. “Summons of the Soul” – I love that! I have to admit, I’ve had a lot of animal dreams, but this was the first involving a sick or injured one. Scared, independent, bold, shapeshifting, threatening, passive, yes… but I was so angry to see one sick/injured/caged! Yes, it is a summons of the soul…to DO SOMEthing… I just don’t know what. I have not listened to her dream CD’s but I loved Women Who Run with the Wolves, The Red Shoes, and Warming the Stone Child. She has such talent and skill for getting to the core of the matter with story! And I am such a sucker for a good story!
