Midpoint between solstice and equinox

February 2, 2008

Even though there is ice on the trees and a cold rain falling, hints of Persephone’s return are everywhere. The winter rye blankets the surrounding fields with large swaths of green, the days are noticeably longer, and pale green shoots are reaching for the light. Whether we celebrate Imbolc, Brigid, Candlemas, or ground hog day – this day marks a turn of the wheel. We are now at the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

If you are interested in learning more about these earth based celebrations – visit Joanna at her Gaian Tarot Journal website or Waverly Fitzgerald. I also like to refer to Circle Round for ideas about how to incorporate celebrations into our family life.

What stirrings are you feeling as the ground warms up and buds are imperceptibly swelling?
